    Mouse Trap Slot by WMS

When I was a child I remember playing Mouse Trap dozens of times with my friends. Most of the time the game didn’t work properly, and when you went to set off the whole Rube Goldberg contraption it went haywire and just didn’t do what it was supposed to. Still, the game provided hours upon hours of fun and I still remember it fondly (although I will NEVER purchase it for my kids).

For those of you who never played the game as a child, I will give you a brief rundown of how it works. Mouse Trap was brought to market in 1963, and is playable for between 2-4 people. The game sees you overtaking a rodent and trying to navigate the game board, eventually getting to the point where you can try to trap other players in order to penalize them. The player wins when they trap all of the other players.

The rules of mousetrap have changed throughout the years, but one thing has not: people still love the game. Chicago based developer WMS Gaming has seized on that notion, obtaining the rights to develop a land based slot designed with the Mouse Trap premise in mind.

The game was originally teased at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas during the Fall of 2014, and will see the game being released in late 2014 or early 2015 alongside other classic themed games such as The Flintstones, Elton John, Elvis Presley, and Gremlins.

The game is a hybrid slot, mixing a traditional three-reel slot with a second video screen above which features a game board. The reel symbols in the game include the traditional slot bars, 7’s alongside the game’s symbol and a Wild Mouse who takes up an entire reel.

The game has nine paylines, and includes Free Spins as well as Progressive Jackpots. Players can get to the bonus game board when they get three Scatter Symbols on the reels, and then get to move around when they uncover pieces of cheese on the reels. Along the way players can win minor, major, grand, and the cheddar progressive, which escalate in prize size.

The game is pretty simple when you compare it to the others that WMS is coming out with in the next year, but something is nice about seeing the classic look of a three-reel slot mixed with the high tech computer graphics of a video slot.

WMS was very open with its showing its games at G2E, and revealed that Mouse Trap will be a high and low denomination game, meaning that games can begin on just a single cent and go up to more than a dollar per credit. Progressive jackpot size will scale accordingly, but you will definitely be able to find a way to squeeze this game into your budget the next time you head out to a casino.

We are really looking forward to Mouse Trap by WMS and can’t wait for the game to release sometime within the next half year.
